Photographing for charities is exactly the kind of work I enjoy being involved in.
Over the years, I have worked with charities supporting a wide range of causes, from environmental campaigns to projects that use the arts as a tool for social change, including Glimpse, Possible, Clean Cities Campaign, People's Palace Projects, The Verbatim Formula, Stages Toolkit and Mina | Migrants in Action.
With many of these organisations, I have developed long-term working relationships, some spanning more than eight years and still going strong, which brings me enormous satisfaction.
I have also been fortunate to work with universities such as King's College London and Queen Mary University of London on projects that bring together research, community engagement and social change.
Below is a selection of photographs from these collaborations, with a particular focus on organisations working on environmental issues.
Westminster - Listen to Us
Glimpse organised a visit to Westminster, where young people spoke to Members of Parliament about the environmental issues affecting their communities.
The Cargo Revolution Campaign
Photography for The Cargo Revolution Campaign, which celebrates pioneering businesses adopting cargo bikes. Below, you'll see both the original photographs and examples of how they were used on the campaign website.
For More Child-Friendly, Cycle-Friendly Towns and Cities
I photographed one of the many group rides organised by Kidical Mass and Streets for Kids, where children and their parents cycled together to demonstrate the demand for more child-friendly, cycle-friendly towns and cities. Fun fact: for most of the shoot, I photographed from the back of a cargo bike!
I've also photographed countless events for Better Streets and Possible, including parklets, The School Jam campaign and community meetings exploring plans for a more pedestrian-friendly Hyde Park Corner. Here is a selection of images capturing some of the highlights from these projects.
