From where we started....

To where we are now

Besides being a photographer, I'm also an avid gardener. Obsessive, really.
I and my husband, Andrew Durham, designed and built our garden ourselves over the last 4 years and are very happy to share it with you.
To start with, our number one priority was to create a low-maintenance garden. Now, what makes us the happiest (and a little proud, we must say) is that we managed to combine strong design elements with sustainable, regenerative principles. With a gentle touch, and a general motto of less is more, we’ve been trying to work with nature and not against it.
You'll be able to read about our garden transformation journey, the thought process behind our design decisions, and the different habitats we managed to create in a relatively small garden by clicking on the navigation bar on the top of this page.
Sharing our lives with plants and wildlife is one of our biggest joys and, by sharing our own garden stories, we truly hope you get inspired and start - or enrich - your own green journey.
A note about Low-maintenance
If you read a couple of the blogs about our garden, we'll see us going on and on about maintenance and we wanted to quickly explain what we mean by that.
Although a low-maintenance approach to gardening involves giving up a rigid scheme, activities such as tweaking, pruning, moving plants around and pulling out what you don’t like are not only valid but expected and ultimately beneficial for the garden.
We try to have a gentle touch and, to be honest, most days we are either too busy or haven't got any energy left to do any major work. But low-maintenance, in our garden, does most definitely not mean letting it go.
